After an exhaustive search spanning all across Canada, the hunt for a new Anne Shirley finally came to an end when 13 year-old, Hannah Endicott-Douglas, was selected to reprise the role made famous by Megan Follows. It's been 100 years since we were first introduced to the character, and finding the perfect girl to portray this Canadian heroine for the movie, Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning, was no easy task.
In an interview with the Toronto Star, Endicott-Douglas says playing Anne was a dream come true. A fan of the series since she was 2, she was excited to take on the role of the much loved character and be a part of the iconic series.
"She (Anne) is a kind person and she can be very relaxed. But she has a whole different side to her, which is her fiery temper and her love of sticking up for herself. Also, she's very imaginative. I love all those personality traits and I think it just makes her such a strong character," Endicott-Douglas says when describing the character.
The Toronto-native shares the same spunky spirit as the girl she brings to life and will no doubt prove to impress audiences in her first major role.
