The much anticipated prequel to the Anne of Green Gables movies and the fourth installment in the film series, Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning, will be making its North American debut at the Boston Film Festival. On Monday, September 15th 2008, the movie will be featured along with other top international films at the event. The story will focus on many unanswered questions raised by the prior films and give viewers insight into what the years after leaving Green Gables had in store for Anne Shirley.

Now a writer in her fifties, Anne looks back on her early life in an attempt to draw inspiration. Lost beneath the floorboards of Green Gables, secrets are discovered that illuminate the troubled childhood and the heartbreaking sorrow of Anne's early years.

Remembering her youth, she recalls events that bring her face-to-face with her demons. Although she had faced much cruelty and despair, she managed to find the most unlikely friends along the way including an institutionalized old man, a powerful businesswoman, a hopeless widow, and a man seeking to become a father to her.

Now in its 24th year, the Boston Film Festival runs from September 12th through September 18th. With showings taking place at the Kendall Landmark Theatre, Boston Common as well as venues throughout the city, the festival provides the audience with a chance to view internationally acclaimed films in a history backdrop. This year's program will include a unique selection of feature films, documentaries and shorts, followed by question and answer sessions after each screening.
