I love Anne because she is different from the other girls: she's imaginative, thougthful, talkative, she wants to be friends with everyone and she understands other people, she is true to herself and doesn't get influenced by people's opinion, she loves literature, she is the truest friend and she loves Matthew and Marilla with all her heart. She is a model to me. I dream to go to Canada one day and visit PEI and the film locations in Uxbridge someday!  The Anne trilogy has had a huge success all around the world and I've never seen any other films as good as these!! I read the first book and watched the animated show when I was a little girl. Having red hair and having a wild imagination, I really related to Anne. When I was 16, a friend of mine read the whole series and told me I was just like Anne. I read the rest of the series myself and found that we did have a lot of similarities, besides both of us having red hair! Anne got into lots of predicaments and she said the wrong things, but she never stopped being herself. She wasn’t the average girl, she never tried to be, and people still loved her anyway. She didn’t conform to what others thought she should be, or do what others thought she should do. Anne just followed her heart. Of course, things didn’t always work out perfectly, but she didn’t let bumps in the road keep her “in the depths of despair” for long. She always stayed cheerful and never let other people’s bad attitudes affect her. Anne has inspired me to follow my heart, love who I am, and to never let other people’s opinions of me, or plans for me, keep me from being who I’m supposed to be. "Anne of Green Gables" was the first book that I picked up and actually read cover to cover—and I've done that about ten times now. It set me on the road to reading, and I devoured every book I could get in my hands. Anne also introduced me to Tennyson and "The Lady of Shalott," which I learned to recite and later used to impress my would-be husband on one of our first dates. I began to put pen to paper and write my own stories—of course all of my characters had a striking resemblance to Anne! I've written for newspapers and magazines, but I always feel that I keep some of Anne's flowery language with me. Anne also led me to the L.M. Montgomery book "Kilmeny of the Orchard." I fell in love with the book and the name Kilmeny. I swore I would name my daughter that, if I ever had one. Kilmeny Anne was born 8 years ago.
